At 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, the 61st Tomball Holiday Parade will leave the corner of Elm Street and Main and head west toward Buvinghausen. The Greater Tomball Area Chamber calls the route "Two Miles of Smiles." Two weeks after that, the tree at Depot Plaza is lit. The weekend after the tree lighting, vendor booths go up along Market Street and South Walnut for the German Christmas Market.
All three events happen within a few blocks of 201 S. Elm St. Since spring, several new businesses have opened on those same blocks. West Main, where the parade runs, gained a sourdough bakery, an Ethiopian restaurant, a bookshop and a sno ball stand. Market Street, where the Christmas Market vendors line up, got a new brewpub and a new pizza and burger spot. The calendar matches last year's almost exactly, but the storefronts along the routes are different. Each event below is paired with the street it takes over.
November 21: West Main, along the parade route
The parade runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The 2026 theme is "250 Years – Main Street Americana," and Tomball Auto Group is the presenting sponsor. Last year's 60th parade was on November 22 and was presented by Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, according to Community Impact's 2025 holiday roundup. Admission and parking are free, according to the City of Tomball's event listing.
The road closures shape that morning more than anything else. From 7 a.m. to noon, the Chamber lists these closures:
- North Elm between Main Street and Hufsmith Road
- North Walnut between Main Street and Epps
- The 100 and 200 blocks of Commerce, Houston, Oxford and Market streets
- South Elm between Main and Market, and South Walnut between Main and Fannin
- The parking lot at the corner of Main and South Walnut
From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., FM 2920 also closes between FM 2978 and Business 249. Main Street through downtown is FM 2920, so the parade route is a state farm-to-market road for those few hours, and the closure runs well past the parade route on either side. The parade listing doesn't mention a shuttle. If you drive in, park somewhere you won't need to leave before 12:30.
Several of this year's openings face the parade on that west stretch of Main. The Tomball Times business timeline lists these:
- Flour House Bakers, 214 W. Main St., opened its storefront September 19 with sourdough, a limited Purefi coffee menu and limited breakfast.
- The Peddler's Pack Book Co., 408 W. Main St., opened May 30.
- Sno Angels SNO Balls, a drive-thru New Orleans-style stand at 525 W. Main St., held its grand opening October 17, Community Impact reported.
Mimi's Ethiopian Cuisine opened August 9 at 103 W. Main St., according to Community Impact. That puts it close to the Elm Street start of the parade. Thirsty Bee Meadery is also on the route, at 212 W. Main St. Once the floats pass and the side streets reopen at noon, lunch is a short walk along the street you were already standing on.
December 5: Depot Plaza and the blocks behind it
The City's Deck the Depot Tree Lighting is Saturday, December 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tomball Depot Plaza, 201 S. Elm St. Admission and parking are free. The City lists Santa, free hot chocolate and treats while supplies last, local performances, and the season's first "snow." Mayor Lori Klein Quinn lights the tree, and Visit Tomball puts that moment at around 7 p.m.
The format matches last year's listing, with the same plaza, the same 4-to-8 window and the same activities. The date moved from December 6 to December 5.
The event runs four hours and its main moment comes near the end, so the hours before 7 p.m. are free for the side streets around the plaza. Houston Street and Commerce Street are right behind it, and both have coffee and wine stops.
- Honor Society Coffee Co., 105 Houston St., and 1821 Coffee Fusion, 213 Houston St. 1821 Coffee Fusion is a Salvadoran family's shop. It opened November 7, 2025, per Community Impact.
- Whistle Stop Tea Room, 107 Commerce St., and Cisco's Salsa Co., 209 Commerce St.
- Pearl Provision Co., which opened its own storefront July 18 at 409 Commerce St., per the Tomball Times.
- The Bluebonnet Wine Bar, 401 Commerce St.
December 11 through 13: Market Street under vendor tents
The 18th Annual Tomball German Christmas Market runs three days. Friday, December 11, is 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, December 12, is 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, December 13, is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Parking works differently depending on the day. A free shuttle runs from the east parking lot of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball during festival hours on Saturday and Sunday only. On Friday night, the City's listing points visitors to street parking around the festival. Saturday starts with the market's big ceremony. Per Tomball German Fest, 10:30 a.m. brings the tapping of the keg, a Willkommen ceremony for German exchange students and their Tomball host families, and the official opening.
The organizers describe vendors lining Market Street and South Walnut with German heritage items and arts and crafts. Inside the Community Center at 221 Market St., at the corner of Cherry Street, the Weihnachtshaus sells German clothing and souvenirs. The festival's info page lists its traditional contests: Bier Stein Hoist, Chicken Dance, Say It In German, Yodeling, Dance Fest/Schuhplattler and Party Spiele. It also says beer sales are cash only.
Market Street is where the downtown changes are most concentrated this year. Fire Ant Brewing Company closed at 308 Market St. on May 17, according to the Tomball Times. Southern Oak Brewing opened in that space on October 7 as a brewpub with 28 taps and a full kitchen. Next door at 306 Market St., Snarky's opened May 8 serving pizza and burgers. Market Street Grill is at 302 Market St.
So December's market will be the first one held with Southern Oak and Snarky's on the street. At the other end of Market, Hee Haw's Tacos & Tequila is at 102, The Empty Glass at 104 and Every-Bellies at 106. Tomball Social Haus is a block over at 209 Fannin St.
Not every change went the other way. The Tomball Times reports that Grazeables moved its storefront from 406 W. Main St. to Conroe on October 5 and still takes online orders and deliveries. Most of the new arrivals, though, are on the streets these three events use.
The season on one page
Here are the three dates with the travel detail that matters most for each:
- Saturday, November 21, Holiday Parade, 10 a.m. to noon. Main Street from Elm west to Buvinghausen. Downtown side streets close 7 a.m. to noon, and FM 2920 between FM 2978 and Business 249 closes 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No shuttle is listed. Food stops on the route include Flour House Bakers, Mimi's Ethiopian Cuisine and Thirsty Bee Meadery.
- Saturday, December 5, Deck the Depot, 4 to 8 p.m. Depot Plaza, 201 S. Elm St., with the tree lit around 7. Free parking. Before the lighting, try Honor Society or 1821 Coffee Fusion on Houston Street, or The Bluebonnet on Commerce.
- Friday through Sunday, December 11 to 13, German Christmas Market. Market Street and South Walnut. Use street parking on Friday and the HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball shuttle on Saturday and Sunday. Bring cash for beer. Southern Oak Brewing and Snarky's are now on the market's main street.
Main Street, Depot Plaza and Market Street are also a big part of how buyers judge Old Town. A home a short walk from these streets comes with parade mornings, tree-lighting crowds and market weekends. If you own near downtown and want to know how that walkability shows up in your home's value before a spring listing, Eve Kneller can walk you through it. Request your free CMA & consultation, and we'll start with the blocks around your street.
